Well Jay, at least YOUR take on Kobes’ passing is a reflection on ALL of those taken too soon, and a reflection of how WE value our own time left here on earth. Thank you for that!

I just can’t take the media turning celebrities and athletes into deities. The amount of time devoted to them, and the eulogies are waaay over the top. This is NOT meant to be disrespectful to them, or their families, it’s just that their lives are no more, or no less important than any others. I don’t recall the entire sporting world spending an entire day of TV and radio to mourn the loss of the firefighters lost battling the wildfires in Australia, the others in the same helicopter, or the friend I lost yesterday to cancer.

My point is, these same celebrities are human, with flaws, like us all, so, let’s not let the celebrity status get in the way of saying, gee, that sucks, say a prayer for them and their families, and move on, just as we do for every other loss of a human being. This deifying of athletes and celebrities diminishes the value that others have brought to the world around us.

Your piece seemed to. placed value of our own time on this earth, and how we use it, rather than making God’s of the famous deceased. I appreciate that. Thanks again!
